what is supplier diversity?

Supplier diversity is the proactive business process of sourcing products and services from previously under-used suppliers. This process helps to sustainably and progressively transform a corporation's supply chain so as to transactionally reflect the demographics of the community in which it operates.

In South Africa, it is the process of integrating a growing pool of competitive black suppliers into corporate supply chains, using targeted procurement and enterprise development to achieve this.

what is the SASDC?

The vision of the SASDC is to be a leading corporate movement promoting supplier diversity development through sustainable targeted procurement and black supplier development. It will be a place where member corporations jointly develop and share knowledge, experience and practices in sustainable procurement and supplier development, and have access to a growing database of certified competitive black suppliers. Most importantly, SASDC is a member-driven organisation.

It is a powerful opportunity to:

  • Take leadership and ownership on an issue of national importance and drive the agenda;
  • Demonstrate responsible corporate citizenship;

It is also a platform to collaborate and leverage collective resources:

  • Combining resources for a bigger impact;

  • Supported by a member-run and directed organisation.

What will this member-run organisation provide?

  • National database of certified competitive black suppliers
  • Business and supplier diversity information resources, e.g. case studies, success stories, reference material, bulletins, process guidelines and tools
