Supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), under a Strategic Partnership Agreement with the dti, the saibl programme has funding of US $12 million over a 3-year period from 1 April 2008, with an option to extend for a further 2 years.
saibl is run by a strong, established US / South African partnership consisting of the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA), representing more than 100 US companies investing in Africa, the National Business Initiative (NBI), a member of the World Business Council on Sustainable Development and representing 150 member companies supporting growth and democracy initiatives in South Africa, and ECIAfrica Consulting (Pty) Ltd (ECI), a well-known South African economic development company.
In addition the US-based National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) has signed an agreement with the National Business Initiative (NBI) to provide technical assistance and support to the SASDC.
